ECU reverse engineering: reading data safely so tuning is informed, not guesswork
A safe, legal workflow for extracting and interpreting ECU data so tuning decisions are data-driven.
What I did
- Focused on reading/observability first: logging, sanity checks, and repeatability.
- Mapped signals and verified against known-good behavior before changing anything.
- Kept a strict “safety-first” rule set (no sketchy changes, no blind writes).
- Documented assumptions and changes so results are traceable.
Notes
This is written as a real log — configs, mistakes, and the “why.” If you want the raw screenshots/config snippets, ping me on LinkedIn.
